I just watched a bit of FMA:B over my brother's shoulder (I am still waaaay behind), and is it just me, or are they cutting out a lot of the shippy bits?

What is it about FMA:B that fails to suck me in like the first anime and the manga did? I've only watched episodes 1-4 and then bits of the rest and I'm not in a big hurry to catch up. What gives?

Yeah, they've cut out a LOT and sped things up quite a bit through the beginning bits. I figure they're going to slow it down once we get to the part that hasn't been animated (so like...now). Considering we have 97+ chapters to cover and 50 some episodes to do it in, I can understand their hurry.

All in all, it might be rushed, but I'm definitely enjoying seeing my favorite manga bits animated. :) They're following the manga really quite closely. ♥

LOL ... well they pretty much cut out a majority of what we know BUT still tell the basic storyline ... also remember this IS the mangaverse so yeah it is alot different and Ep 15 brings in Ling.

When I spoke with Travis (Roy), Wendy (Envy) at a con in May they confirmed coming back as the English VA's and how they love the darkness of it and none of them have read the manga and are catching it via subs on Funimation's site ... yeah it is VERY dark and very interesting ... but you'll see I adore FMA in every shape and form ... ^^;

Not everyone like the new anime, yes I will admit it didn't GRAB me like the first one sucked me in just by seeing previews back in what 2003??? ... but I am enjoying it all the same ^^

... so does that mean Vic is still going to be Ed? That's... really disappointing. I was hoping they'd find someone knew so Ed wouldn't sound like a thirty-year-old man. Plus, I strongly dislike Vic. I met him at a con once, and he was really condescending and just totally hit my 'douchebage' button.

Of course, I loved Travis and- agh, what's Hohenheim's VA's name? I love him. He's great.

FMA is the best!!! It is the only series ever that I have loved both the anime and manga equally. I just don't get my lack of excitement at this new one. I mean, it's FMA!!! Hm, maybe it will be different once Olivia shows up.

LOL ... ok I will tell you what I know.

Scott McNeil is Hoenheim's VA and yes he will be returning even if they patch his voice in from Canada ^^ ... I know Scott pretty well, I met him about 3 years ago and then again saw him recently at LouisiANIME and he remembered me and we hung out. He's such a sweetheart and will always be my #1 VA.

At the FMA Panel Travis (Roy), Wendy (Envy), Scott (Hoenheim) and Kyle (Falman) all said they were reprising their roles from the original anime. The ONLY person that MOST LIKELY would NOT reprise their role is Aaron (Alphonse) cause his voice is TOO deep and although he MAY NOT be Al, he WOULD be someone else in the anime cause there are many new and different characters.

Now as far as Vic, I have NEVER met the guy and I hear good and bad about him. Personally I will find that out on July 24 when I actually meet him at Mechacon. I buy a GoldPass which means VIP treatment so I have a private meet and greet with the VA's and signings, etc.

I have been asked by several Vic fans to get him to confirm if he WILL be Ed or not, he won't say anything supposedly. Now since you are a new friend I will tell you that I am an actress on the stage and HAVE done voice work and I have no shame, seriously. I just go up to the VA's and talk to them normally and don't OMG to them, hell they are just like us.

In all honesty I can't see him NOT being Ed and miss out on all that money? His rabid fangirl rangers scare the fuck out of me cause they treat him like a god or something and I WILL tell him that :P.

I only met one VA that was a really bastard and that was Mike McFarland (Havoc) and I've heard that he is really nice well so far I haven't had a second opportunity to meet the man to be proven wrong. See you pop an attitude I will giver you a death glare and walk away! I am also the same age as Vic so he better not pop an attitude with me, lol!

Actually I think his BEST work is Ed, seriously, I heard him in Bleach and Saiyuki and I really like him as Ed cause I actually thought he sounded very young, lol!

I do extensive con reports so you'll find out first hand when I post each night from the con on my lappie! ^^

You should tell me what you think of Vic, when you meet him. The time I talked to him really put me off, and I have strongly disliked him ever since. The crap thing about disliking him is it ruined my love for the English dub, since every time I heard Ed it made me think of Vic. I am hoping he's not really a douchebag, so if he does do Ed's voice again it won't bug me so much.

Vic's Rangers are really, very scary :(

That's awesome that you're an actress. I know absolutely nothing about acting or theater. My brother's girlfriend used to do costumes and props and all that for movie sets, but the most contact I've had with anything theater related was I used to volunteer to help clean up/restore old theaters.

Oh I most definitely will ... trust me I get vibes good and bad really easy and fast, lol! Oh yeah dem rangers are fucking scary I tell ya! Seriously! I can't give an honest opnion about him till I meet him tho but I know SEVERAL vendors who have met him and other FMA fans that don't care for the guy.

Yep been acting for over, geez I figured it out the other day, 27 years? Something like that. I have done videos back when MTV was big in the 80's, voice over work in commercials and movie extras but my favorite is theatre. I only don't cosplay cause I've done SO MUCH theatre that it doesn't interest me right now. Also I used to work for Anne Rice and did the "cosplaying" of her characters when I gave tours of her homes here in New Orleans ...

That's so awesome <3

I love going to the theater. I don't even care what play is it usually, if I have spare cash I always go. There's just something about watching a story play out on stage that you don't get from movies. Like, with movies you can watch the story with awesome special effects and all that, but with theater each time a play is performed is unique.

Exactly why as an actor I prefer the stage you see the appreciation of your work right then and there. ^^;

Welcome to the darkside, my dear.

The lack of shippy (that makes me giggle for some reason) is one of the multitude of reasons I don't care for Brotherhood myself. And it's just like you said: it doesn't suck me in at all. I inhaled the first series. This one? Meh. I'll watch the rest of it. Eventually. I'm interested to see how they interpret parts of the manga but overall? I could take it or leave it. I prefer to leave it, for now.

I think part of it is in the first anime, you really didn't know what was going to happen next. The same with the manga. But with this new series... there are no surprises.

I think I'll just watch the bits with all the gorgeous girls <3

I never noticed it being any less shippy. I'm not really a fan of obvious pairings like Ed and Winry though, so if they tone that down, it's fine by me. :D (Not that I don't like them, but they're cute in that sickening way... xP)

FMA isn't much a shippy series to me anyway. It's all about Ed and Al, and when it's not, it's them kicking peoples asses plus plot. While most people like to ship, I think the one thing in the whole series everybody is holding their breath for is the day Al gets his body back, and for all this promised day stuff to be over.

But anyway, I love this new series. I never thought anything could be better than the original anime, but I was wrong. x3

That's what I love about FMA- the lack of shippy. It's all about the characters, and all the characters are awesome. (Even Envy, whom I hate, is awesome in his evil fucktard way.)

I want to love the new series. After that first episode I thought I was going to, but instead I'm all, meh, I'll get to it.

*sighs*

I'm enjoying it, but it's not exactly grabbing me like the first anime/manga either and I've mostly put that down to the lack of suspense. They are following the manga so closely that we know exactly what's going to happen, so while there is excitement at seeing certain characters/arc animated there's not really a lot of oooh-plot moments. And any discussion that takes place is usually comparing it to the manga or talking about the editing.

*shrugs* So fun to watch, but I am disappointed that I'm not getting more into it.

That's probably it. It's kind of like watching a movie after your friends have spoiled the ending. Yeah, it's fun, but you're just not that invested in it any more.
